It is wet here today. I mean sopping, soaking, dripping, soggy, saturated wet! When I drove my hubby to work this morning, the sky was so heavily pregnant with rain that the clouds literally touched the ground in places. If it was possible to go higher than 100% humidity, then today would have been the day.
Oh those April showers!
Did you know that when God first created the earth, there was no rain?
Gen 2:5 And every shrub of the field was not yet on the earth, and every plant of the field had not yet sprung up, for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.
Instead, mist rose up from the ground to provide water to the earth.
Gen 2:6 But there went up from the earth a mist and watered all the face of the ground.
It is my understanding that, in fact, it didn’t rain until God sent rain in Noah’s time during the Great Flood.
Gen 7:4 For in seven more days I [God] will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
And boy did it rain!
Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, in the seventeenth day of the month, in this day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened up.
Gen 7:12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
It formed one monster of a puddle!
Gen 7:19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth. And all the high hills that were under the whole heaven were covered.
Talk about a high water table!
I guess I shouldn’t complain about the splash pad in my back yard.
BTW – did you know that lots of rain really isn’t good for ducks? Apparently, too much rain can wash away the protective oil covering on their feathers which is what helps them float.
Good thing Noah collected seven pairs of ducks to go on the ark!
Gen 7:3 Also take of the fowls of the air by sevens, the male and the female, to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
All the ducks are swimming in the water
