Caught on camera – again!

Last year I went to my local vehicle licensing bureau to change the last name on my card from my maiden name to my married name. I thought that they would just have to input the new information into the computer and then “clickety-click, barba-trick” it would be done. In my ignorance, I didn’t think that they would need to take a new photo – poor fool that I was! Needless to say, I was woefully unprepared in the hair and make-up department and so I have been forced to walk around with photo ID that looks like a very unhappy suspect in a line-up at the police station! (they don’t call me “Scary Shari” for nuthin’!)

Since then, I have sworn that they will not catch me again with my proverbial “pants down”, or sans makeup and hair-bush, as it were.

This week, it was once again time to renew my photo ID. I carefully read (and re-read) the documentation on my license renewal and saw an “X” in the “NO” box of the “photo required” section – whew! So off I blissfully went for a walk to the license bureau on one of the windiest days we have had this year. I presented my paperwork with a smile, which was quickly wiped off my face when the clerk told me to stand up against the white screen, remove my glasses and don’t smile. I spluttered that the form said that my photo was not required. I was informed that this was only if I had renewed online. That must have been in microscopic fine print!! So there I was, once again with my back up against the white wall, sans makeup, and windblown hair (not the sexy kind). I can tell you that I did not have to work too hard at the not smiling part!

I feel sorry for anybody who asks to see my ID!

I was caught unaware in a somewhat trivial matter, but there are going to be many people, all those who do not believe in Jesus Christ, who will be caught unawares when Jesus comes again.

Luk 21:34 But give attention to yourselves, for fear that your hearts become over-full of the pleasures of food and wine, and the cares of this life, and that day may come on you suddenly, and take you as in a net:

Luk 21:35 For so it will come on all those who are living on the face of all the earth. (BBE)

And there will be much “weeping and gnashing of teeth” when that happens.

Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

God tells us that there is no excuse for not knowing Him or the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Nobody needs to become a fool. Nobody needs to be caught unawares. God has given us His written word, He sent us His Son, people to share and teach that word, and His holy spirit to give us wisdom, discernment and understanding. We are all “without excuse”.

Don’t get caught on camera with your spiritual “pants down” when “that great and notable day of the Lord” comes.

1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

1Th 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Rev_3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Rev_16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

    • Thank you. I know that I am not the only one to struggle with this issue. It can be devastating, which is why I want people to know and understand their worth in Christ Jesus. 🙂

ps – Sorry about your less than flattering ID… I guess the moral of the story is to be prepared at all times… Oh wait, that was the point of your whole post 😉 We must be watching and praying!
